About Certificate of Authenticity
Template

A free, focused tool for issuing a professional certificate of authenticity for your own work.

Certificate of Authenticity Template (certificateofauthenticitytemplate.com) is a free, browser-based certificate maker from Glenwhisper Limited for artists, photographers, printmakers, galleries and makers: choose one of ten original designs (five traditional, five modern), fill in a short form beside a live certificate, add an artwork photo, logo and signature, then download a vector PDF, PNG or SVG, or foil artwork for a printer to review. The certificate is issued by the artist, studio or gallery who fills it in; the site does not authenticate artwork or objects.

Who runs it

Certificate of Authenticity Template is built and run by Glenwhisper Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong (HK Business Registration No. 76935415; Registered office: Unit 1603, 16/F, The L. Plaza, 367-375 Queen's Road Central, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong). We are a small team that makes simple, focused web tools: tools that do one job well, let you start without an account and explain themselves in plain words.

We read every message sent through the contact form, and we use what artists, galleries and makers tell us to decide what to build next.

Why it exists

Most certificate templates are a word-processor file with a clip-art border. Fields move when you type, the photo never sits right, and edition numbers get muddled between prints.

We wanted a tool that asks only for what a certificate needs, shows the finished document as you type, keeps edition and certificate numbers straight, and produces a vector PDF you can print at home or send to a print shop.

How certificates are made

One layout engine runs the preview and every download.

  • Your photos stay with you

Filling in the form, placing your photo and building the PDF all happen in your browser. Images are only stored on our side once you save to an account, in private storage. The editor removes location data from a photo before it is uploaded. Our privacy policy has the details.

  • Text stays readable

Each design fits long titles and names within a minimum readable size. If something still does not fit, we flag it for you to shorten. We never cut text off.

  • Preview and file match

The preview and every download are drawn from the same layout, measured in millimeters, with the same font files.

  • Designed, not generic

The ten designs are original vector artwork: guilloche borders, engraved-style corners, rosettes and modern editorial layouts, each with a photo and a no-photo version.

Print one copy on plain paper before you use your good paper, and print at 100% / actual size. How to make a certificate of authenticity.

What we don't do

Being clear about the limits matters as much as the features.

  • We don't authenticate art. A certificate made here is a statement issued by you, the artist, studio or gallery. We do not appraise, inspect or verify works, and a certificate is not a legal guarantee of provenance.
  • We don't run a verification service. An optional QR code links to your own website or catalog page. There is no registry or lookup on our side.
  • We don't print or supply foil. We make printable files. The foil package is artwork for your printer to review; it is not approved until your printer says so.
  • We don't retouch your photos. Your artwork photo is placed as you supplied it. It is fitted to its frame and cropped only if you choose, never recolored, stretched or edited.

How we write our guides

  • Practical first. Guides explain what goes on a certificate, how to word it and how to number editions, with a filled example you can open in the maker.
  • Conventions called conventions. Where something is common practice rather than a rule, such as how many artist proofs to make, pencil or pen, or a paper weight, we say so.
  • Numbers come from the tool. Paper sizes, margins and minimum type sizes on our pages come from the same data the maker and the PDF use.
  • No legal advice. We explain common practice. For questions about the law where you sell, ask a professional.
  • Dated. Anything that changes carries a "last updated" date.
  • Corrections are welcome. If something is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
